Our new magnetic blocks have certainly inspired some wonderful architectural thinking, creativity and collaboration. The children have been busy exploring shapes, domes, structures and different dimensions, experimenting with how pieces connect and how their ideas can become reality.
This morning, however, the children had a very different challenge in mind. How tall could we make our building?
What began as an exploration of construction quickly became a shared project, with the children working together to build upwards, carefully considering balance, stability and how to add each new piece. A ladder became part of our construction process as the children reached higher and higher, carefully adding blocks to extend their growing tower.
Before long, the children were inviting our families to join in the challenge, encouraging parents to lend a helping hand and reach those extra heights that little arms couldn't quite manage!
There was so much excitement, encouragement and shared problem-solving as everyone contributed to making our tower the tallest ever.
We love seeing where children's ideas take us. What started as an individual interest in magnetic construction evolved into a collaborative project involving children, educators and families.
A wonderful example of what can happen when we make space for children's ideas, value their agency and build something extraordinary together!
