The Language of Storytelling

Wednesday 21st October 2026

Our City to Sea adventure was another beautiful opportunity to slow down, get creative and connect with the natural environment around us. We spent time painting, reading and enjoying the sights and sounds of Newcastle Beach, making the most of the wonderful learning opportunities that come from being out on Country.

But our adventures are also about finding our voice and learning how we can make a difference in our community.

With Halloween approaching, the children have been thinking about the impact that traditional artificial spider webs can have on our local birds and wildlife. We have been exploring how these decorations can pose a serious entanglement risk to birds and other small creatures, and why it is important to consider the natural world when making choices in our community.

Our little advocates were keen to spread the message! We even placed one of our signs at the Newcastle Beach kiosk, where the lovely team were more than happy to support our quest and help share the message.

We are incredibly proud of our children for developing a strong sense of responsibility, empathy and care for the world around them. Their voices matter, and even the smallest actions can help create positive change.

Connecting with Country, caring for our wildlife and learning that we all have a role to play in protecting the places we love.
