Celebrating NAIDOC Week with Aunty Michelle 2025

Week one term 3, we were honoured to welcome Aunty Michelle to preschool as part of our NAIDOC Week celebrations. Aunty Michelle began her visit by introducing herself to the children and sharing where she is from, as well as talking about the Country we are lucky to play and learn on every day.

With warmth and enthusiasm, Aunty Michelle taught us some classic songs and dances — Highway Number One and Wombat Wobble — which had everyone moving, laughing, and joining in. These “oldies but goodies” brought joy and connection as we celebrated culture through music and movement.

To finish off our special morning, Aunty Michelle guided the children through the beautiful art of bracelet weaving. With focus, patience, and lots of colour, the children created their very own woven treasures, each one a symbol of connection, culture, and care.

Thank you, Aunty Michelle, for sharing your knowledge, joy, and stories with us. What a beautiful way to celebrate NAIDOC Week together.
