Beach Story-Telling

Tuesday 20th October 2026

Today, our City to Sea adventure took us to the beautiful shores of Newcastle Beach, where we shared a new story, All the Ways I See, written by ABC News Disability Reporter Nas Campanella and Eliza Hull, and illustrated by Sophie Beer.

Told from the perspective of a blind child, this beautiful story invited us to slow down, listen, notice and experience the world through our senses. Sitting together by the ocean, we listened to the crashing waves, smelt the sunscreen, felt the warmth of the sun on our faces and watched the world around us.

We took time to imagine what visiting the beach might be like for a child who is blind and explored how we can experience and connect with the world in many different ways.

Our City to Sea adventures are about so much more than visiting the beach. They are opportunities for children to build meaningful connections with Country, develop a deeper appreciation of our natural environment and become curious observers of the world around them. Through these shared experiences, we continue to nurture a sense of belonging, respect and connection to the land, ocean and community that surrounds us.

Another beautiful day of learning, discovery and connection on Awabakal Country.
