Sunshine, Learning, and Beach Adventures

Thursday 4th of December 2025

Today our City to Sea session was filled with sunshine, learning, and beach adventures. We were lucky to have Imogen visit our Thursday group to talk all things beach safety. She taught the children the hand signals and signs used at Nippers and surf lifesaving, helping them understand how lifeguards communicate at the beach.

To put our learning into practice, Imogen led a fun beach game where she used the signals while we pretended to be out in the water. The children listened carefully, responded quickly, and had such fun showing what they knew.

Afterwards, we got straight into some beach play. Buckets were filled to the brim as everyone worked hard to create impressive sandcastles. Our amazing volunteers walked back and forth to keep the water supply coming, doing their best to keep up with the children’s enthusiastic building!

There was also time for quieter moments as the children drew pictures of beach life and created beautiful shell patterns on boards, each design unique and thoughtful.

To finish our morning, we gathered together and read a story about Life on the Coast, talking about all the things we see and experience at the beach. We also noticed how busy the shoreline was today—now that summer has arrived, many families were out swimming, playing, and soaking up the warm weather.

It was another wonderful day by the sea, full of learning, creativity, and joyful exploration.
